Change is coming to Ilesa’s academic landscape. The University of Ilesa has announced the introduction of new degree programmes—including Medicine & Surgery, Chinese Studies, and Yoruba Language—for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session. This expansion aims to provide diverse educational pathways for Ijesa youth who previously had to travel far for specialized courses.
According to the university’s management, these additions are part of a strategic vision to make Ilesa a regional hub for both science and culture. The Osun State Government has reportedly committed over ₦4 billion to upgrade facilities, laboratories, and lecture halls to meet accreditation standards.
For many families in Ilesa, this announcement means hope. It means that their children can now study Medicine, Languages, and Technology without leaving their hometown. It also creates new opportunities for lecturers, researchers, and entrepreneurs in the region.
The Dr. Adegoke Fajemisin Scholarship Fund (DAFSF) has expressed excitement about the development, noting that it will introduce scholarship categories specifically for students pursuing these new disciplines. “When new doors open, it’s our duty to make sure every deserving child can walk through them,” said Mr. Olufemi Fajemisin, Founder and Chairman of DAFSF.
The expansion isn’t just about new courses—it’s about empowering a new generation of dreamers, innovators, and community leaders in Ijesa.
